1. For those who don’t know you, tell us about yourself.

We are Victoria Street, a five-piece alternative rock band that first formed when we were back in poly. We write lyrically-driven songs that are combined with post rock textures and elements, therefore appearing mainstream while appealing to the non-mainstream audience as well.

2. What does playing at Baybeats mean to you?

For us it’s a huge honour and a big milestone. I think at some point of every musician’s life, they’ll look at some great performer playing somewhere and go “Wow, I want to be like that one day, I want to play that stage one day.” For us, Baybeats is that stage where we’ve seen so many musicians that we admire do their thing, and we’re really stoked and excited to finally have the chance to play here.

3. What can people expect at your performance?

Energy! We have some new, never-played-before material that we want to test drive with our audience, but we do that while keeping the idea of Baybeats-goers’ energies in mind.

4. If you could describe your band with a Pokemon, which Pokemon would it be and why?

Jigglypuff! Because our singer looks like that when she sings.

Catch Victoria Street at the Arena Stage (Esplanade Outdoor Theatre) on 26 Jun from 5.40 to 6.10pm.

MOSHIN' Magazine
MOSHIN' is a Singaporean music magazine started in Apr 2011 by two friends. We figured that for too long, talented Singaporean artistes have performed in the shadow of big international acts, and we believed that that should change.
