As we took our seats at the Esplanade Concourse a postcard and a smile bade us a warm welcome. At the other end of the smile was Sheena Hong, our entertainment for the night.
Firstly, I would like to tell everyone that I felt cheated by the Esplanade’s website on their background of this band. They clearly stated Atlas as an “Alternative Rock” genre, and I was expecting some Muse-like songs from them in M.I.S.ceallaneous 2012, but no, I was caught pretty off guard the moment Cat, the lead vocalist started singing. This band is obviously filled with indie!
When we first heard that Indonesian folk duo Stars and Rabbit were going to be playing at Baybeats this year we were intrigued. After all it’s not every day you hear about Indonesian folk bands that do English songs.
Admit it, on first glance you didn’t know how to pronounce their name either.
Nevertheless, ANECHOIS (say uh-neh-ko-is) is definitely one local band to look out for in the music scene, especially for all you post-progressive rock lovers out there.
Possessing the hearts of tigers, these young lads from the indie-rock quartet are definitely running right on their path to greater recognition in the local music scene.
